Hi Sugar!!!!!

Wow, yesterday was a full day from start to finish! Lots to tell and lots of pictures to show!

Yesterday really was a great day, even though it resulted in a sunburn! My skin is on Fi-Ya! lol
We got up early to get ready for the Sugarcane Festival Children's Parade. We were running late, as I like to get there an hour or more early so we can get "my" spot. We left the house an hour before it started and still had to figure out something for breakfast! So, we were late for the good spots, but we did get a good spot and we were towards the beginning of the parade. This is good because A: the marching bands and dance troops aren't exhausted yet and B: by the time the parade passes us, the whole city isn't trying to leave!

We swung into Mickey D's so we could do a potty stop before getting out there. Regan of course wanted chicken nuggets - which is an issue at 9 am! So we got a chicken biscuit and all was good! (btw, if you haven't tried their southern chicken sandwiches you are missing out. they are my new favorite.....just add mayo! yum!) Anways, we were unable to park in our spot with the truck bed backed up to the road because the cops closed Main St about a block before our turn. We did find a close parking spot, so that was nice!

We sat and ate breakfast while waiting for it to start, which didn't take long since we didn't go too early.

The children's parade is really cute! All the little schools in the area pick themes and they dress up and walk through town!

Regan thought the Shriners on the little motorcycles were hilarious!

I think the dance troops are Regan's favorite! I am a fan of the marching bands! The parade was pretty good. Regan got candy, which is her main motive anyways, so I'm glad the few who threw candy were throwing!! We made a quick exit and headed off to the Sugarcane Fair.

There was only a few people there when we got there! I loved it! No lines, no waiting......no body around! We bought a book of tickets and Regan wanted to ride the Carousel first.

After the Carousal, Regan and I played a game. Somehow while there I lost all our tickets! I was pissed! I am sure someone happened upon them while we were sitting there right next to them. I ran back to see if they were laying there by the game, but they weren't. There was $20 down the drain. And we still had to buy more! Ugh! I guess I made someone VERY happy that day! (happy birthday to you!)

Today was really the first time Regan rode a lot of rides, and by herself! I guess she really is getting to be too big! Last year on Halloween Regan rode the Ferris Wheel with Bub and I and was mortified! This time, she had a blast! Granted she curled her knees up to her chest and every now and then let out a nervous giggle.......but she did it all with a smile on her face!! :o)

We did ride this one dragon roller coaster that kicked our butts! It was Regan's very first roller coaster. And I think we would have been fine if we hadn't have gotten stuck in the very last car. That thing whipped the crap out of us. Rammed Regan into me, then I had to hold on so I didn't crush her around the turn. She hated it to say the least......the picture tells all!

And yes I am laughing! Couldn't help it!

Regan rode the rest of the rides on her own like a champ! She had a blast! Her and I also rode down a big slide on a burlap sack. She loved that one! She was ready to go back! If we hadn't have already spent $40 on tickets.......we would have bought more to go again! But she got to play a few games, won a little monkey and a ball, got a coke and some cotton candy on the way out and was pleased as pie!

After the fair we headed to lunch and then home. Once home we got the Chevy loaded up to take to Joe. Man that took FOREVER!!! But it was worth it and hopefully in the next few weeks she will be up and running!! I am really looking forward to all the things we'll be doing to the truck!

On our way to drop off the truck, we passed a crazy wreck! There were no ambulances when we passed, so I assumed the people were already taken. I hope no one was hurt badly!!

It's Friday! A Day of Family, Shopping & Fun!

Today has been a great day!! It's nice to just do the little things and not worry about being on time and all the places you HAVE to be! That, is my everyday! But today, was different!!

We decided to skip playgroup today and go visit Papaw. I called him about 9 am and told us we were coming around lunch time instead of late afternoon like we usually do and that I was bringing plate lunches.

We all piddled around the house this morning (which felt SO good!) before getting ready and heading out! We ended up leaving with just enough time to get to Theriot's to get plate lunches. (BTW, the Etouffee was fabulous!) We went and had lunch with Papaw, which was very nice! I think it really set the ton for the day!

After we left Papaw's we headed to Kmart. They had a summer sale.....which is really funny since it's still warm here and will be for a few more months! LOL Anyways, all their summer clothes was on sale for $3.99.....women's, men, children's and even the PJ's - which is what I bought a bunch of! We shopped a little more after then headed to this wholesale place on 182 that we have never been in. They are only open M-W-F from 12-6 and those are the times when Regan isn't in school and either has dance or playgroup. Plus......it's easier to shop at places like that without her!

We got some really great finds and my FAVORITE find is the small school desk we bought for Regan! I have had this on my list for months now and haven't spotten any at all. We didn't want a new one - even if they did come like this. So I wasn't sure if we'd ever find one. Even better still, cost...................$15! Woo Hoo! Not sure how old it is, and it does need a little TLC in the form of sanding and painting. Regan loves it. So much so, that she wouldn't let us keep it in the spare building until it could be cleaned well and sanded. She insisted it go in her room right when we got home!

On top of today just being a good family day, the weather has been GLORIOUS!! When we got home, Regan and Bub headed outside. They flew kites, Regan played and Bub started to clean out the Chevy. Then Bub, Regan and I had casting contests with Regan's little fishing pole! It was fun. And let me tell you, my little 4 year old would give any grown man a run for his money when casting her pole!! She is a natural!

The pickup.......So we re-bought the old 1970 choptop Chevy that we once bought and re-sold to my stepdad. Unfortunately the condition in which it was returned to us was nothing like it was when he bought it back from us. It was very sad and I was very upset when my FIL trailered it down here from Oregon! Anyways, after almost 2 years, we finally got the title and got it transferred over so we could get it licensed and legal. And a few months ago, while getting my oil changed I happened to find someone who knows about hotrods. Building them, fixing them, etc. So, hopefully this week Bub will be delivering the truck to Joe! For now he'll be tuning it up and installing the new fuel cell. There is lots to do!! Here are a few pictures of it now!

Okay, a little off topic and I guess we could call it bragging too..........

Regan can now, not only write her name, but she can write Momma & Daddy! I cannot tell you how proud I am! She wrote this for me the other day, without looking at an example!

Also, a few nights ago, Bub got up in the middle of the night to check on Regan. She seems to never stay still or stay covered up. Well, this is what he found...

Too cute! The cats have been sleeping with her more than us these days! I'm jealous! lol Oh and she is completely sideways in the bed!

The day is coming to an end! I am still doing laundry and we finished supper not long ago! Tomorrow is the Children's Sugarcane Parade in the morning and then we have someone coming to see the house at 2! I really hope something comes of this! Stay tuned tomorrow for some parade pictures and an update on the show of the house (if I've gotten one yet!).

Have a blessed night all!!

We have Tile & Counters!!!

Since we will work it out no matter what, I was able to get excited when we went to see the new house today! They had the ceramic tile laid in the kitchen, laundry room and the bathrooms. When we arrived there were guys in there putting in our quartz counter tops. They looked SO good! I assume tomorrow or when they get to it they will add the ceramic tile back splash! I am so relieved that our choices are as I imagined! It is so stressful wondering if we picked out something that won't look good in the house!

It is coming together quickly! The switches and plugs were all in place, and we even have a garage door!!

I am still waiting for a completion date so we can move forward from here - whether we get a contract on the house or rent it out!

Hidden Cameras........Source of Entertainment

If you have been keeping up with the recent happenings of the Baublits, you'd know that we have had serious issues with houses, buyers, realtors.....you name it!

Well, we finally scheduled and successfully had an open house today to sell this house. Well last night Bub and I were talking about how it sucks that we can't be here because we always want to know what the people who see the house say or what they think about the house....good or bad. While packing up and cleaning the house we came across our old camcorder. So we decided to set it up in the living room so we could hear the comments. Well, and also make sure what our agents tell us would be the truth. So Bub bought some new tapes and we turned it on right as we left. I actually felt a little guilty and strange as we left for the two hours. But it was actually an interesting tape to say the least.

I got to hear some choice words my agents thought about me. I got to hear them critique the placement of my furniture, I found out that they lied about faxing the open house info to all the New Iberia agents, I heard that they don't think I mean to be such a bitch, I also found out that my suspicious of my 2nd agent's lack of experience is SO VERY warranted. Some of this was actually pretty funny and interesting! Oh, and they also said that the other sale of our house didn't go through because I am GREEDY!

Now, keep in mind, these are the same people that are supposed to be looking out for our best interest. They keep lying to me at every turn and my original agent just passed us off to a newbie even though our circumstances are pretty urgent at this point!

Well, we did actually have someone come to look, so they did accomplish something today.....other than talking shit! lol

Here are some pictures from before the Open House. We sat outside waiting for the agents while Regan rode her bike.

Right before they arrived, we got Cyndar, Capone & Samara kenneled up and ready to go bye bye. Before we loaded them up in the car Regan had a little conference with them.

We went for a late lunch at Mickey D's (I left the truck running and the doors locked), then we headed to the city park! Regan played, Samara got to run a bit, then we headed to feed the ducks! The squirrels were no where to be found though! And this time we brought a huge bag of peanuts!

Why Is It?

Why is it that when you have a house that needs minor work, you just deal with it for some reason?

When we bought our house in Portland, we bought it with an unfinished basement with the premise to finish it. Well, we did do a lot, but never fully finished it. We ended up doing some last minute things before selling to sell it.

We bought this house a little over 2 years ago with very minor issues. One being the main bathroom's faucet in the bathtub. The hot knob never stopped, it just spun and you'd have to find the stopping point and make sure it didn't leak. I remember when we did the walk through with the inspector thinking, why would someone deal with something that simple to change! How lazy! Well, guess what.....2 years and 2 1/2 months later we are just changing it out. Not for us, but so we can sell it with one less flaw!

Isn't it funny how that works. Not only did we do the exact thing the old homeowners did, but now we are changing it out, but not for ourselves! I guess we at least are stopping the cycle for the next homeowners of this house! LOL

Thankfully I can say with certainty that our next house we will not have this issue! Everything will be new (which I am excited about) so there will be no "dealing" with things!

Do 4 Year Olds Sleep??!?

So, do they?? Because I have one and let me tell you......that child does NOT sleep!!!

Bedtime and nap time in this house is TORTURE!! Up until this year and Regan turning 4 we had a normalcy where sleep was concerned! Although we always wondered where she got her sleep habits from! Bub and I LOVE to sleep! Always have! We always assumed the odds of her having a love for sleep would be great since we both are really good at sleeping!

Up until her 4th birthday Regan went to bed, without issue at 8 pm on the dot. And depending on the day I might send her in a little earlier with no issue. Well, all of a sudden 8 pm turned into a fight to get her in there, which then lead to her laying in bed for an hour or more asking for a drink, asking questions, talking, needing to go to the bathroom numerous times....and it ultimately would end in me either yelling and/or spanking her. So I decided that a change in bedtimes was needed and we went with 8:30 pm. Well, this worked for a few days and soon we were back to the hour long battle, some nights longer. It became ridiculous! And let me tell you, ending a day with my daughter by yelling and fussing and sometimes spanking her SUCKS! Big time!!

Most people would say, just let her stay up. Well, here's the thing....even if I let her stay up until midnight, the kid will still wake up at 6:30 am! And bare in mind, I am an oilfield wife! I do not have the luxuries of a daddy coming home at 5:30 at night and getting any piece and quiet. There's no one here to keep her occupied when I make dinner, let me take a shower in peace, let me relax or do anything else! So the evening time when she is asleep is the ONLY time I get time to myself!

If you're an avid reader, you'll already know I decided that I would start letting her stay up till 9 or so, maybe later to get her good and tired with the premise that she HAD to stay in her room and watch a movie! This really did work for a while! But, here we are again! This kid does NOT SLEEP!

Not only will she get up at the crack of dawn, then fight me for an hour before taking a nap, she still won't be tired and will fight to go to bed at night! WHERE does she find the energy?? I have truly witnessed her get 6 hours of sleep at night, avoid a nap like the plague, be put to bed at 9 pm and STILL be awake and chatting full force come 10:30! HOW?? And you know, if she didn't act like such a little jerk from the lack of sleep, it wouldn't bother me if she skipped her naps and stayed up a little later. But little Miss Diva gets a mouth and an attitude on her that doesn't quit!

To all of you with girls, I have no doubt you know what I am talking about! But does anyone know why my child does not sleep?? I keep telling Bub there is something wrong with her. I seriously am contemplating contacting her pediatrician to see if there is really something amiss with this sleep situation!
