Food For Thought!
Last night I went to bed early! Well, I was in bed early! I laid down about 9:30, relaxed and watched TV a bit. We don't have digital cable in the bedroom, so if nothing I usually watch is on (Chelsey Lately or something on the Food Network) I usually just flick until something interests me.
I ended up on some show on BET. I am not certain the name, or even the point of the show. It was a lady and her mom sitting with a Life Coach. I am not sure why I watched it, especially since I spent most of the time trying to figure out what was going on!
Anyhoo, in this short little show, or at least what I caught of it, I actually learned something!
It appeared as though the women were reaching the end of their sessions with their Coach. The Life Coach had each of them, based on the lessons learn throughout their "show" write their own "Laws to Live By". The Mom's first law was "Stop treating the wrong people right, and the right people wrong." I was like, holy shit! That makes so much damn sense! I was literally laying is bed going "WORD!" in my head! I mean really, how many of us, or how many people do you know that always treat the right person wrong?! And how often do we find ourselves treating people who do not deserve it good?!
Man! It really had me thinking! In the past 8ish years I have made a huge stand to get people out of my life that do not deserve to be there! Life is too short, my time is too precious and I just don't need shitty people clogging up my life!!
The point is, I guess I had never heard it put that way and it really hit home!! Now I want to shout it from the roof tops! It really makes you want to check your life and the people in it!!
So the second thing I heard on this show was that the daughter had a book and every day she wrote down something she was thankful for!
We all know what stresses us out, what hurts us, worries us or we wish we could change. How often do we sit and meditate on the good and all the blessings??
I do, but not always! Because the difficult things in life have a way of over shadowing all the good things! And for me, writing things down makes them more real and memorable! And too, I think stopping once a day and finding that thing that permeates the bad can be a very empowering thing!! I just may have to add this to my things to do list!!
